Taliban insurgents have claimed responsibility for a suicide car bomb attack- targeting a convoy of NATO troops in the Kabul.
The explosion occurred in a crowded area of Kabul during the busy rush hour period. The interior ministry’s deputy spokesman, Najib Danish, confirmed there are casualties, although the number is unknown.
“It was a suicide bombing against a foreign forces convoy in a crowded part of the city and there are casualties,” he said.
Taliban militants claim a foreign troops were among those killed.
Local media reports suggest seven civilians were injured in the blast, which caused an armoured vehicle to flip on its side.
Prior to the attack, the capital had experienced more than a month of relative calm, following a series of bombings in August.
