At least five people were injured Thursday when several gun shots were fired by unidentified men in a popular mall in South Africa’s Bedforview town, a media report said.
It was not immediately clear what happened, but emergency services company Netcare 911 said that five people were wounded, with two in critical condition, Eyewitness News reported.
« As I came out of the toilet I just saw people firing guns. A lady came past me and she was shot in the crossfire. Three people were shot. I think it was a robbery, » it quoted an eyewitness as saying.
A woman said there was a group of men who shot people. « I don’t know what they robbed but there are still gun shots going off. It’s chaos. »
Police and emergency services reached the mall and barricaded the roads leading to it.
Bedforview is 40 km east of Johannesburg, the largest city in South Africa.
