Through a program funded by Education Without Delay and implemented by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), UN helps teachers improve science education for children affected by conflict and crisis.
A pilot study conducted in the town of Bol in Chad, which has suffered the effects of cross-border terrorism for many years, shows that the provision of simple science-based tools such as school kits and scientific equipment including set squares, compasses and rapporteurs makes a big difference for teachers and students in one of the poorest regions of this Central African country. Hand washing kits have also been distributed to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other diseases.
