Estimations show that 10000 people have fled Crimea and restless eastern Ukraine to other parts of the country because of fear of insecurity and prosecution. Chaos and violation has affected many people, while in some parts shocked locals faced a mass outside their homes, broken windows, destroyed walls, and pools of blood. Everything is destroyed, people are solicitous and fearful, shops are out of food, and people can’t work, and in total life has stopped.
Displacement in Ukraine has been rising gradually. According to spokesperson for UNHCR, some people have been displaced twice – first from Crimea and then again from the eastern part of the country. The main motive for displacement is fear because of ethnicity or religious beliefs as well as professional reasons. Moreover, many people need to continue their business which is impossible in conflict situation forcing them to look for opportunities in other places.
Unrest in eastern Ukraine along with serious problems emerging in Crimea lead to distressing deterioration of human rights in the region. Accommodations are provided by local authorities but these places have a special capacity. Prompt needs are evident including constant shelter, employment opportunities, and long-term solutions for displaced families with the help of community-based and local organizations.
